At Medpace in Haasrode, just outside Leuven, medicines and medical devices are rigorously tested for pharmaceutical and biotech companies around the world. Cleaning Masters keeps the offices and laboratories clean every day. Alexander Craens, Office Services Coordinator, explains what the partnership involves and why attention to detail is essential.
From changing teams to consistent quality
In 2022, Medpace decided to switch to a new cleaning partner. Its previous provider could no longer deliver the required level of quality. High staff turnover meant Medpace constantly had to train new employees, creating too many safety risks, particularly in the laboratories.
Medpace retained the existing cleaning staff as part of the new partnership, and Alexander is very pleased with the team today. The Cleaning Masters team now keeps five buildings clean, including both offices and laboratories.
Attention to every detail
Alexander and his team carry out daily inspections throughout the buildings to monitor quality. Every two weeks, he and Christian, Cleaning Masters’ supervisor, randomly select one building for a more thorough inspection.
Additional precautions apply in the laboratories. In certain areas, Cleaning Masters staff are only permitted to clean the floors and must work under supervision to prevent contamination. One designated cleaner is responsible for toxic and medical waste and receives additional training where required.
“Together with Cleaning Masters, we decided to introduce a second shift in the afternoon, giving the morning team more breathing room.”
Cleaning Masters also helped find a solution to manage the team’s workload: “Together with Cleaning Masters, we decided to introduce a second shift in the afternoon, giving the morning team more breathing room.”
Looking ahead
In a few years, Medpace will move to new, larger offices and laboratories. For now, Alexander rates the partnership at 85 to 90%. The expansion into the adjacent building went smoothly. Asked to describe the partnership in three words, he chooses: “flexible, proactive and reliable.”
