Working at Cleaning Masters: what makes it so enjoyable? Day in, day out, our cleaning masters ensure that everything is spotless at our customers’ premises. And they do so all over the country. But how do they experience the job? We asked our masters in all Flemish provinces. “I even convinced my mother to come working at Cleaning Masters,” says Stephanie, a cleaner in West Flanders.

Myriam has been working at Cleaning Masters in the region of Antwerp since 2005. And with great pleasure, she says. “I chose a job in cleaning because it is a fun job. And of course, it’s also cool that I get a very good salary,” she says enthusiastically. “It is hard work sometimes, but you get a lot of satisfaction out of it.”
“The atmosphere here is very good and I also have a very good boss. My employer takes very good care of me, and I regularly get a nice gift, such as a birthday card or a present at New Year.”
“Cleaning is a fun job. And of course, it’s cool that I get a really good salary.”
After almost 20 years at Cleaning Masters, Myriam is almost ready for her well-earned retirement. For her successor, Myriam has a clear message: “Go for it! It’s hard work, but you get a lot of satisfaction out of it and you have a lot of people around you.”
Katrien: “More enjoyable than a 9-to-5 job”
Katrien has been working at Cleaning Masters in East Flanders and has gained a lot of experience in the cleaning sector. “I am a ‘butterfly’, which is the nickname of the members of the mobile cleaning team. In that job, you have a lot of freedom. You have to make sure all your tasks are done, but you fill in yourself how you do it.”
“A ‘butterfly’ works here for a few hours, then rides the car for a while, then works in another place afterwards, … That’s more varied and more enjoyable than a 9-to-5 job.”
“As a ‘butterfly’, you have a lot of freedom. You have to make sure all your tasks are done, but you fill in yourself how you do that.”
Besides freedom, Katrien points out the other benefits of ‘butterflying’. “I have a company car and a fuel card. That’s a nice bonus. In fact, many people are shocked when they hear how much I earn. And that salary is always paid nicely on time.”
The best compliment Katrien can get is when she walks into a customer’s building and they say, “Good to have you back, now we know there will be good cleaning again.” That’s what our masters do it all for: happy customers!
Stephanie: “Working at Cleaning Masters, I earn more than when I was working as a domestic help”
For 3 years Stephanie has been one of our dedicated cleaning masters in West Flanders. “It’s a very varied job with a lot of diversity. I work in different places and that makes it interesting,” she says. “I am also very satisfied with my salary, which is higher than when I worked as a domestic help. In addition, I also have a company car.”
But it’s not just the salary and the company car that make working at Cleaning Masters attractive to Stephanie. “I have a very good relationship with my manager. She is kind and I can always go to her with anything. Everything is discussable. And if necessary, she adjusts my schedule if there is a problem. There is a lot of trust both ways. If I say something to her, I know it will stay with her.”
“I convinced my mother to come working at Cleaning Masters.”
“I’m really happy here. In fact, I convinced my mother to come working at Cleaning Masters. She used to work at another cleaning firm, but now she is very happy at Cleaning Masters,” Stephanie says.
“Whether the customers are also happy with me? Yes, I got a nice compliment from a customer once. He asked me if I wouldn’t like to work for them. That does make me feel good and it shows that they are satisfied with my work.”
“It’s cool that Cleaning Masters is making every effort to make the work easier for us and to make it as pleasant as possible for us.”
Finally, Stephanie is also excited about the innovations at Cleaning Masters. “The other day I was cleaning at a customer’s building where also a robot hoover from Cleaning Masters was driving around. It’s cool that Cleaning Masters is making every effort to make the work easier for us and to make it as pleasant as possible for us.”
Marie-Claire: “I went to work somewhere other than Cleaning Masters for a while but I missed the family feeling and respect”
Marie-Claire has been working in Limbourg as a ‘butterfly’ for Cleaning Masters for eight years and feels at home. “I do notice differences from other cleaning companies. Both in terms of equipment and products. And I have a great inspection and a company car.”
“After six years, I left Cleaning Masters for a while. I went to work in a hairdressing salon, but I missed the family feeling and the respect. The pay there was also a lot less. Respect means a lot to me and I get a lot of trust here. We are one big family and I have a good relationship with my inspection. It feels like we are friends.”
“It feels like we are friends.”
“I really wouldn’t hesitate to join Cleaning Masters,” says Marie-Claire. “Our inspection takes everything into account, we get regular training on products and ergonomics, and I even get lots of presents from my customers because they are so satisfied with my work.”
Fuad is happy to be working at Cleaning Masters: “We are one big family”
For Fuad, the story began at Cleaning Masters about seven years ago, in the Flemish Brabant region. “Sometimes my supervisor asked me to work at a different location, but that certainly wasn’t a problem. I feel a lot of respect, from colleagues, the customers and Cleaning Masters. In addition, the company also provides correct wages.”
“I feel a lot of respect from colleagues, the customers and Cleaning Masters.”
Fuad feels not only appreciated, but also part of a family. “Annie, my inspector, is very good to me. I talk a lot to her and she takes good care of me. At Cleaning Masters, we are one big family. We have a lot of fun and every year we get a present.”
Ibrahim: “I think it’s important for an employer to be committed to the environment”
With 20 years, Ibrahim is an established member of the Cleaning Masters team. “When I’m working at Cleaning Masters, it feels like I’m with my family,” says Ibrahim. “We have a top-notch team.”
Ibrahim is responsible for the department’s industrial cleaning works in the Antwerp region, but he is also a bit of a globetrotter. “We also clean ventilation ducts on large ships. For my job, I already went to Curaçao, Singapore, Turkey, Indonesia, and the Philippines. I get a lot of trust, respect and responsibility here.”
“Working with a robot is great fun, but our people remain important.”
Cleaning Masters invests in new materials and machines every year, much to Ibrahim’s satisfaction. “Working with the robot is great fun, but our people remain important. It is them who operate the robots. I provide training every month on how to use products, materials and new machines, such as robots. We also try to use environmentally friendly products as much as possible. I think that is important in an employer, that he is committed to the environment.”
Juliet: “I feel like I’m growing”
Juliet works as an employee within Cleaning Masters’ ICT team at the headquarters in Merksem. “I have only been working here since last year and I really enjoy it,” she says. “The best thing about working at Cleaning Masters is the diversity. I think it’s cool to do different things and work with different people, including my supervisor.”
“I get a lot of trust, which is really important to me.”
“I feel like I’m growing and it’s nice that my supervisor notices and tells me the same. It is important to feel appreciated and that your work matters. If I tell him something, it stays between us and that ensures I can trust him. I can express my opinions with him.”
Juliet also finds that the people around her give her a sense of belonging. “They make me feel that I belong and that I can come to them. I really like that. I get a lot of trust, which is really important to me.”
