6 examples of corporate social responsibility

Cleaning Masters recently received the Sustainable Development Certificate from the General Belgian Cleaning Union (UGBN). Our cleaning company received the mention ‘Highest distinction’ for its performance in the field of corporate social responsibility (CSR). In a previous report, we explained the meaning of Sustainable Development. Today, we look at the practical application with 6 examples of corporate social responsibility.

Sustainable Development Goals as inspiration

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has gained a lot of importance in the last decade. Also within Multi Masters Group. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the United Nations form the basis for our policy. Both in the short and long term.

In close consultation with our French parent company Samsic we have selected six SDGs where we want to and can make a difference. They are:

  • good health and well-being (SDG 3)
  • quality education (SDG 4)
  • decent work and economic growth (SDG 8)
  • industry, innovation and infrastructure (SDG 9)
  • reduced inequality (SDG 10)
  • sustainable cities and communities (SDG 11)

12 CSR commitments

To achieve these Sustainable Development Goals, we have drawn up a list of 12 commitments in the field of corporate social responsibility. Each of these commitments contributes to the realisation of one or more SDGs. The 12 commitments each fit within one of the four pillars of our CSR policy:

  • workforce
  • environment
  • supportive and sustainable society
  • providing a responsible and innovative service

Examples of corporate social responsibility

By giving some examples of corporate social responsibility, we make the link between our CSR policy and the SDGs clearer.

Example 1: the use of probiotic products
Probiotic products do not contain chemicals. They are therefore not harmful to our ‘cleaning masters’ and do not pollute the environment. By cleaning with these products whenever possible, we contribute to the realisation of SDG 3.

Example 2: support of River Cleanup
Multi Masters Group is one of the permanent partners of River Cleanup. This organisation combats litter worldwide. By organising litter campaigns and building the River Skimmer, we actively contribute to the realisation of SDG 11.

Example 3: training with the help of virtual reality
If training-on-the-job is not possible, we provide training using virtual reality. We apply this innovation, for example, for our cleaners who clean aircraft. In this way, with the VR glasses, we work towards realising SDGs 4 and 9.

Example 4: recruitment of disadvantaged groups
Multi Masters Group cooperates with companies such as Manus. This way we offer people from disadvantaged groups the opportunity to build a career in the regular economy. This way we contribute to the realisation of SDGs 8 and 10.

Example 5: donation of laptops
By donating laptops to the non-profit organisation Terre au Féminin, we ensure better education (SDG 4) in the Agricultural School in Bobo-Dioulasso (Burkina Faso). Thanks to this school, women in the village of Kouakoualé learn how to grow their own vegetables.

Example 6: company bicycles
The headquarters of Multi Masters Group is located in Merksem. A stone’s throw from Antwerp. To visit our customers in the city centre, our staff has electric bikes at their disposal. Thanks to these e-bikes we contribute to the realisation of SDGs 3 and 11.
